Public Activities

We offer all sorts of public activity sessions - a mix of gorge walking, abseiling and ladders, paddle sports and archery and axe-throwing! Advance booking is required. For groups of six or more, we can arrange alternative times for our sessions.

Half-day public activity sessions - gorge walking, abseiling and ladders, and paddle sports - are all priced at £50 per adult, £40 for under 18s. Our shorter archery and axe-throwing sessions are priced at £27 per adult and £22 for under 18s. Paddle board taster sessions - the supervised hire of a paddle board for one hour - are £25 per person. All guests staying on site receive a 10% discount on advertised activity sessions.

Gorge walking

Our Family Activity Holidays are back for 2024! Each holiday runs from Monday to Friday (four nights), and includes full bed and board, with morning and afternoon activity sessions on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This holiday is priced at £380 per under-18, and £430 per adult, with under-5s staying for free. Our activities for 2024 include gorge walking, abseiling, archery, open canoes, raft building and bushcraft. Additional nights are available on a self-catering basis at £120 for a family room.

Boulders on the shore

​Our Public Geology Courses run every year, and will be back in summer 2023 - these courses open your eyes to past worlds by bringing you outside and teaching you to read Arran's rocks. The five-day course includes full board accommodation in twin or single rooms, four full days out in the field learning to interpret Arran's astonishing landscape, and one free day to explore.

 

Our 2024 package runs from Sunday 28th July to Saturday 3rd August, at £549 per person.

Walking Holidays

We have recently started offering walking holidays, opening up our facilities for an all-inclusive week of guided walks around the island. Now anybody who fancies learning a little bit more about Arran's fascinating geology, wildlife and landscapes - whilst getting the full benefit of spectacular island scenery - can book onto one of our public walking holidays. This will include full board accommodation in twin or single rooms, four full days of guided walks, and one free day to explore. So why not make a little time for yourself?

Scottish Geology festival

In association with Lochranza Centre cic and Arran Geopark.

8th September. 

An “Introductory Geology” walking tour from Lochranza Centre to Fairy Dell.

Meet at 0945 at Centre, the day will run until 15.30. All interested welcome, please bring lunch and appropriate outdoor clothing.

Kildonan dinosaur footprint

We are available for guided Geology / Wildlife / Mountain walks for groups of four persons and above. Our staff are Mountain Leaders, with degrees in relevant environmental subjects (Geology, Geography or Biology), and very experienced in outdoors education!
